Dear Derrick,
I have now spoken to all known witnesses and reviewed your own statement that you made to police. There is insufficient evidence to proceed with an allegation of racially aggravated common assault. To prove a case of common assault the charging guidelines state 'A battery is an intentional or reckless act whereby unlawful force is inflicted. A mere touch can amount to battery;' After speaking to the witnesses they state that the contact was a touch in order to get your attention during your discussion with The Enterprise manager.
I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for but the police can not proceed with this matter as a criminal investigation.
Kind Regards,
Laura Taupin

Dear All,
Do you have any information that could help with this investigation?
Kind regards
Derrick Lynch, IC3, B9, BEUR
Black Victim of Racism.

Dear Mr Lynch,
My name is Laura Taupin (on email Laura Tish, my former name) and I am a Detective Constable working within the Community Safety Unit at Wood Green Police Station. This unit specifically deals with hate crime which includes racially motivated and aggravated crimes as well as incidents motivated by prejudice against someone's sexuality or disability.
I note you have enquired about my race and ethnicity. Do you have a specific need/requirement/sensitivity regarding the officer who investigates your allegation of assault?
Regards,
Laura Taupin

Dear Mr Lynch,
I have tried to call you to discuss the allegation of assault you made against Amanda Lee but it rang out. I am currently trying to speak with Nicolette Nichols to gain an account from her so I can progress this matter.
If you wish to discuss the case with me you can contact me on 0203 276 3178 or email me.
Kind Regards, Laura Taupin
