The John Loughborough School Consultation

Proposals to close the school

Following the 2011 Ofsted inspection the council and the Seventh Day Adventist Church carried out a review to examine the schools long term future. The review concluded that the school, as currently organised was not educationally, or financially viable.


On 18 September 2012 the council’s Cabinet approved the recommendation that a consultation take place on proposals to close the John Loughborough School.


The information the council’s Cabinet considered can be viewed below in the attached files section.
Consultation on the proposed closure will run from 1 October 2012 to 19 November 2012.
The timetable below sets out the key dates for the consultation process from start to finish.

4Decision – the council’s Cabinet make a decision on whether the expansion should go ahead, having considered all of the relevant information. This stage has to be completed within two months of end of the consultation period (18 February 2013) - finishing spring 2013


We will use the results of this and future consultations to help inform our decision on whether or not we close The John Loughborough School.


The consultation will run from Monday 1 October to 19 November 2012. The council has not yet made a decision on whether or not to close John Loughborough and we will listen carefully to views expressed in this consultation before making a decision.
